Kappad Beach

This beach is where Vasco-da-Gama landed in 1498.A monument on the beach commemorates this historic event. An interesting feature of this landscape is sprawling rock that protrudes in the sea. This beach is locally known as Kappakadavu

Kadalundy Bird Sanctuary

It is home to more than hundred verities of native birds and over 60 species of migratory birds. This sanctuary is also known for a wide variety of Fish, Mussels and crabs.

Manachira Ground

Mananchira, in the heart of Calicut city, has been revamped into a beautiful park & pond. This large maidanam has now a green carpet lawn and the whole complex is circled by a laterite sculpted wall.

Bekal Fort
Which is the largest and best preserved fort in Kerala, is an important monument of the region, This fort, located on the Kasargode highway, is believed to have been built in the 1650’s by Sivappa Naik of the Ikkeri dynasty. Later it was transferred to Hyder Ali of Mysore and then to the British.

Kuruva Island

The Kuruva Island, 950 acres of ever green forest on the tributaries of east following river kabani, is an ideal picnic spot, far away from disturbances of city life. This island is uninhabited. Rate species of birds, orchids and herbs are sovereigns of this supernal kingdom. It is 17kms east of Mananthavady and 40kms, north west of Sulthan Bethery, Wayanad.

Pookode Lake

Wayanad.The Lake nestles in the lap of mountains surrounding it. Boating in pookode Lake is memorable experience. Tall trees and dense forests that line along the pathway around the lake provide a visual treat. A freshwater aquarium with a large variety of fish an added attraction.

Peruvannamuzhi

            The peruvannamuzhi dam set amid hills is a beautiful picnic spot. The reservoir here provides facilities for speed and row boat cruises during which is built in memory of the freedom fighters of the region. Uninhabited islands, bird sanctuary and a crocodile farm add charm to this place.

Planetarium

            Regional Science Centre & planetarium Calicut, is meant to educate people about objects in sky, their nature and relative movements. It has been divided to various sectors such as fun science gallery, life science corner and science park. The centre opens from 10.30 am to 6.30 pm on all days expect on Onam&Deepavali

Uru

            Beypore, is still a favorite destination among the Arabs shopping for large boats. It is about 11kms from the city, a small coastal town known for centuries as a ship building centre and still famous for its country crafts calles”Uru” which are built by traditional shipbuilders known as Khalasis. We can still see some old Uru in Beypore Beach.    

Thusharagiri

husharagiri means snow capped mountain, as it exhibits a unique kinship between land and water, it is about 50 km away from Calicut City, near Vythiri and is famous place for trucking.It is dense ever green forest populated with exotic birds, rare variety of butterflies and wild animals. It is located in Wester Ghats.

Muthanga wild life sanctuary

Muthanga Wild, Life Sanctuary is a great place to just relax and listen to uninterrupted sounds of nature. It is located between the states of Karnataka & Tamilnadu over and area of 344sq.km, famous for project elephant site and rate birds species. Best months to visit are June to October. It is 120km from Kozhikode airport and 97km from Kozhikode Railway station

Mananchira Kozhikode, the charming coastal town in “Land of Spices” is known for its rich history culture, commercial glory, beaches, back-water and splendid scenic beauty. According to some historians it was surrounded by a fort, gets the name Kozhikode from koyil(palace) kodu (fortified). Kozhikode is also called as Calicut, a city in north Kerala Calicut was once a famous cotton-weaving centre, it is remembered as the place for origin of calico. This place was an early focus for Arab traders, who first settled there in the 7th century. IN1498, Vasco-da Gama, the Portuguese discover of the sea rout to India, landed on Kappad beach.
